Sunshine coast…meer dan 300 dagen per jaar zon; so what’s in a name? Verzin maar eens iets beters dan!

Coolum

De zomer-vakantie drukte van de Australiërs wordt hier wat meer duidelijk, de beschikbare campsites zijn druk en eigenijk hebben we geluk dat we nog midden in het dorpje op de waarschijnlijk wel meest populaire campsit nog 2 nachtjes mogen blijven. De prijzen liggen hier meteen ook zo'n 100% hoger dan wat we tot nu toe eerder gezien hebben op bijna alle campings...en dan heeft deze niet eens een klein zwembadje. 

Toch heeft dit dorpje wel iets - de aangrenzende boulevard met shopjes en restaurants  geeft genoeg keuze om zowel een goed bakkie koffie te doen bij de Coffee Company als prima afhaal pizza van...hoe kan het ook anders? Domino's! 

De campsite grenst aan de andere kant aan korte duinen waarna weer prachtig strand zich openbaart...oh ja, een wederom zeer uitgebreide speeltuin in een mooi aangelegd parkje mag hier natuur ook niet ontbreken. Maak het feest compleet met een avond-marktje waar we een allerschattigste poppentent voor Juna scoren (Idee voor een nieuw project in de maak Bianca!!)

Caloundra

'Straddling a headland at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, Caloundra is slowly shedding its retirement-village image without losing its sleepy seaside charm. Excellent fishing in Pumicestone Passage (the snake of water separating Bribie Island from the mainland) and a number of pleasant surf beaches make it a popular holiday resort for families and water-sports fans.

Vol en vol en druk en dus door rijden...het is niet anders...Piraten camping net voorbij Brisbane here we come!! Mooie uitval basis om relax een aantal dagen de kinderen meer te laten spelen en de 'DON'T MISS - GOLD COAST THEME PARKS' te bezoeken.

The gravity-defying rollercoasters and waterslides at these American-style parks offer some seriously dizzy action – keeping your lunch down is a constant battle. 

The parks can get insanely crowded, so arrive early or face a long walk from the far side of the car park. 

Sea World - Wet’n’Wild - Warner Brothers Movie World...CHECK - allemaal in the pocket, gedaan dus!!

Amusementsparken…Why go? Nou das duidelijk, Joycie is fan of moet ik zeggen de familie Christenhuis is als gehele familie (?) fan en wanneer je dan in de buurt komt van zoveel parken bij elkaar dan is het toch logisch dat je de unlimited 3 parken-unlimited days pakket doet?! Het idee erachter is uiteraard perfect namelijk FUN echter dit soort gelegenheden en zeker op de “verkeerde tijdstippen brengt het slechte in mensen ook naar boven…voordringen, haasten om niets, junkfood, wachten, wachten en nogmaals te lang wachten...en dat in the burning Australie sun...Maar we hebben het met z'n allen leuk gedaan - al is wet 'n wild met watersplash ,zwembad, glijbanen etc. wel echt een (kinder)feestje!

Surfers Paradise – Nobby Beach

Geen Surfer gezien...was dat nou???

Some say the surfers prefer beaches elsewhere and paradise has been tragically lost, but there’s no denying this wild and trashy party zone attracts a phenomenal number of visitors (20,000 per day!). Cashed-up tourists swarm to Surfers for a heady dose of clubs, bars, malls and maybe a bit of beach-time when the hangover kicks in. It’s a sexy place: lots of 'shirtless, tattooed backpackers and more cleavage than the Grand Canyon. The beach itself is indeed a paradise, but if you’re looking for cultural substance – with the notable exception of the Arts Centre – it’s a case of ‘Move along, nothing to see here’.'
